How Many Times Can You Visit US on a Visitor Visa
Travelers to America for business or tourism purposes typically apply for the B-1/B-2 visa. This nonimmigrant US visa has a validity period from one month up to 10 years. There are several factors that influence how many times a person can visit the US on a visitor visa. Here’s a look at them.
Single or Multiple Entry Visa
A single-entry visitor visa allows you to enter the US only once. Although you can plan your travel at any time during the validity period of the visa, you can enter the country only once. Once you leave the US, you will need to apply for another visa to re-enter.
A multiple-entry visitor visa allows you to enter the US multiple times, within the validity period of the visa. This means you can enter the US, then leave for your home country or to visit another country, and then return to America, without having to apply for a US visa again.

Validity of Multiple Entry Visas
Multiple entry visas always have a validity period, or a prespecified duration for which the visa is valid. This typically ranges from six months to a year. Sometimes, US visas are issued with a validity period of two years (24 months). Although rare, the US has issued multiple entry visas for a validity period of up to ten years.
While you can enter and re-enter the US several times during the validity period of the visitor visa, there are two restrictions that you must be aware of. These are:
Time Between Visits
Although one can enter several times with a multiple-entry visa, the time between visits depends on the country of origin of the visa holder. For those with Indian passports, the waiting period is two months from the date of the last entry. So, once you leave the US, you cannot re-enter the country before two months have lapsed, even if you have a multiple entry visa.
Duration of Stay
The maximum period for which one can stay in the US is also a restriction. The permitted duration depends on the visa holder’s home country. It can vary from 30 to 90 days.
How Many Times Can You Enter the US
As long as the visa is within the validity period and the restrictions of time between visits and duration of stay are adhered to, you can enter the US as many times as you need to or wish to.
Do keep in mind, however, that each time you enter US, the reason for your visit will be asked at the airport. If your reasons are considered suspicious and unsatisfactory, you could be denied entry and sent back to your home country, even if you have a valid multiple-entry visa.
Also, frequent travel may raise suspicion. Someone who has visited the US twice in a year with a six months gap and stayed there for less than a month each time is more likely to gain easy entry into the country. So, you’ll need to plan your visits accordingly.
